Correction: gold is Wait; a new oil short is Avoid
The earlier article's detailed analysis and decision text were correct, but two dashboard action labels were transposed. Gold remains Wait and a new outright oil short remains Avoid. Corn is Hold one, add zero; ZN remains Wait. No paper fill was added.
Correction: gold is Wait; a new oil short is Avoid
Correction published October 6, 2026, 12:21 Toronto / 16:21 UTC
The 12:13 Toronto edition contained a dashboard-label transposition. Its detailed analysis and decision text were correct, but the compact board assigned Avoid to gold and Wait to oil. The correct decisions are:
• December micro gold: Wait. GCZ26 was $4,190.10 at 15:31 UTC, used only as a same-expiry standard-contract proxy for MGC. One micro contract fits an illustrative $4,090 stop, but the long depends on the same duration rally now being tested by Treasury auctions and Federal Reserve minutes. There is no new paper order or assumed fill.
• November Micro WTI short: Avoid a new outright short. CLX26 was $88.81 at 15:40 UTC, used only as a same-expiry standard-contract proxy for MCL. One micro contract fits an illustrative $92 stop, but the negative-EV gap tail—not contract size—is the veto. The latest EIA balance showed crude stocks about 2% above their five-year average while gasoline was 7% below and distillates 14% below. A crude surplus is not a product surplus. There is no new paper order or assumed fill. EIA
All other decisions are unchanged:
| Thesis | Correct decision | Implementation |
| December corn | Hold −1; add zero | Existing simulated short at 500.50¢; 532.50¢ stop, 460¢ target, November 20 exit. No new fill. |
| December ten-year Treasury note | Wait | Require a fresh post-auction exact-contract rejection. No order or assumed fill. |
| December micro copper | Wait | Require reopened Chinese physical and inventory evidence. |
| December micro S&P | Wait; do not chase | Require the named pullback/reclaim; no order. |
| December micro euro | Wait | Do not reopen the closed short into the rebound. |
The research conclusion also remains unchanged. The August U.S. trade deficit widened to $105.6 billion, but lower oil pulled the cash ten-year yield toward 5.25%. That divergence argues against pre-empting a Treasury short before the auction sequence. December corn reached 502.50 cents while December–March carry remained 14.25 cents, so the existing small short retains positive but fragile scenario value. BEA trade release Market context
The correction does not rewrite simulated history, add a trade or change the research cutoff evidence. It makes the public action labels consistent with the underlying analysis.
*All prices are delayed research references, not broker fills. Standard-contract proxies are labelled where used for micro sizing. Stops do not guarantee maximum losses.*
