Liquidation is visible; qualifying entries are not

New lagged positioning and weekend Saudi reporting change the risks, not the entry verdict. Copper is above its failed-retest band, sugar liquidation is now observed, and defensive demand remains conditional. Independent review of all twelve watches finds no joint economic and executable entry; the existing $1 million paper book remains uninvested.

Dated research, not live quotes. Fourteen newly captured Friday historical observations; unchanged provisional yen and March-WTI carry-forwards; exact nickel unavailable. Closed-weekend retrieval does not refresh the underlying observation clocks. Research views and scenario estimates are separate from simulated positions and performance.

New lagged positioning and weekend Saudi reporting change the risks, not the entry verdict. Independent review of all twelve watches finds no joint economic and executable entry; the existing $1 million paper book remains uninvested.

Market outlook

September 13 four-month common scenario tree retained

September 13 historical 40/20/25/10/5 sensitivity retained after R4 reassessment. Saudi reporting and weaker manufacturing are material, but contradictory flow/demand evidence and uncertain duration do not justify a new calibrated common probability tree. Not a current-entry forecast.

What changed

• Liquidation condition updated: September 15 futures-only managed-money sugar gross longs fell 10,397; net fell 13,254. This supersedes the old no-liquidation description without qualifying a fresh short.

• Copper exceeds the fade band: Friday HGH27 last 6.8185 is 0.0475 above the prior accepted observation and above the 6.80 band ceiling, not a failed retest.

• Scarcity tail renewed, persistence unproven: CLG27 85.76 is +0.73 versus the accepted Friday last. Attributed cancellations/escalation oppose normalization; restoration expectations and demand/storage countercases remain.

• Pre-event positioning reduces squeeze fuel: September 15 leveraged funds switched to net +23,170 before BOJ. The provisional yen mark is unchanged; no newly normalized quote or current band claim.

• Relative indication worsens: 2W/S is 1.097818, below the 1.115 gate; the accepted prior asynchronous ratio was 1.112366. Missing export-sales outcome is unreviewed, not failed.

• Winter premium narrows below gate: January minus March is 0.931 versus prior 0.954, with unverified execution synchronization. National surplus and salt weakness coexist.

• Historical models and zero-position book preserved: No scenario revision, forecast issuance, fill, cost or capital reset. Standard coffee, crude, copper and gold risk examples exceed the per-thesis limit.

Coffee replenishment short — Wait — qualifying catalyst absent

The bearish supply mechanism requires exchange-certified conversion, not merely Brazilian exports. The new 268.80-cent last is already below the sale band and offers only 13.80 cents to the first target against 36.20 cents to invalidation. Lagged reduction in net length reduces potential unwind fuel. Await certified stock growth and an actual failed retest; even a qualifying setup still needs a policy-compliant expression.

Entry: Failed retest of 280–288¢, reference 285¢, after certified stocks rise

Targets: 255¢ then 240¢

Stop: 305¢ research invalidation; gaps can exceed it

Invalidation: Certification failures, net withdrawals, logistics disruption or adverse Brazil flowering/crop evidence.

Counterargument: Exchange certification depends on bean grade and cup testing; growing export availability need not refill deliverable stocks. Weather and logistics can still squeeze a short.

Catalyst: Daily certification/grading outcomes, Brazil exports and flowering weather.

Roll: Historical accepted lifecycle reference: February 18 first notice / March 18 last trade, 2027; no planned roll before January 13. Fresh rules are retained, but exact calendar rows and broker safety clocks were not recaptured. Exact calendar rows and broker safety clocks are not newly verified here. Current NG calendar request failed; no automatic roll or contract substitution.

Market evidence: August Brazilian availability supports replenishment, but certified conversion is unverified. At 268.80, 255/240 objectives leave only13.80/28.80 cents versus36.20 to305; chasing the decline has worse geometry than the conditional285 reference. Deferred WTI scarcity — Wait — economics unresolved

Reported Saudi disruption supports a persistence tail, but restoration expectations, total-petroleum stock building and softer supplied demand oppose a durable February premium. At 85.76 the contract remains above the 82–84 pullback band. A gross 1.87:1 distance ratio to 104/76 does not establish expected value; measured net lost exports and duration are unresolved.

Stop: $76/bbl research invalidation; gap risk remains

Invalidation: Sustained export/transit restoration with inventory rebuilding, or demand contraction outrunning lost supply.

Counterargument: Sustained repairs and higher effective tanker throughput could remove the deferred premium; inventories and consumption may weaken before the outage ends.

Catalyst: Saudi repairs, actual exports, tanker flows and EIA inventories.

Copper tariff-premium fade — Wait — qualifying catalyst absent

A 6.8185 Friday last is above the 6.70–6.80 fade band, not evidence of rejection. Gold defensive continuation — Wait — qualifying catalyst absent

The 4454.10 Friday last is above the 4300–4380 defended-entry band. Invalidation: Sustained adverse Japan/U.S. policy divergence or failure of durable yen demand despite anticipated BOJ tightening.

Counterargument: Imported-energy costs can hurt Japan; persistent U.S. inflation/rates offset BOJ normalization. A nearly anticipated hike may disappoint without further tightening guidance.

Catalyst: BOJ decision and September 15 leveraged-fund positioning reviewed. Monitor actual durable post-decision demand and relative policy; September 21–23 BOJ local holidays do not establish CME closure.

Invalidation: ECB tightening and euro-area resilience outperform the U.S. path, or energy normalizes.

Counterargument: ECB tightening and a recovery in European terms of trade could support EUR. U.S. rate advantage can already be reflected in the forward curve and price.

Catalyst: Prospective failed-rally price evidence and relative growth/inflation; completed FOMC/ECB changes are dated evidence, not pending catalysts.

Wheat / soybeans — No action — current edge not established

The 2W/S ratio is 1.097818, below the 1.115 gate. Higher projected world wheat stocks and stronger projected U.S. soybean exports oppose the proposed relative trade; soybean crowding permits a correction but is not delivered-wheat demand. The missing September 17 sales outcome remains unreviewed, not evidence of zero sales. No current positive edge is established.

Contracts: Long 2 March 2027 wheat · ZWH27 / short 1 March 2027 soybeans · ZSH27

Quote: 2 × ZWH27 729.50 / ZSH27 1329.00 = 1.0978179082016555; both delayed last clocks 2026-09-18T18:19:00Z; not an executable package. Historical context only; execution ineligible

Current ratio 1.0978179082 versus prior asynchronous 1.112365895; prior legs were 134 minutes apart.

Entry: 2W/S 1.115-1.135 only after actual September 11 WASDE and stronger delivered-wheat demand/basis, using synchronized executable legs. Numerical band alone is insufficient.

Targets: 1.18-1.20 conditional objectives only after a qualifying future entry.

Stop: 1.08 remains a conditional research invalidation, not an active stop.

Invalidation: Normalized Black Sea shipping/insurance without import switching, larger exportable wheat supply without demand, or soybean-specific supply damage. Demote after two unsuccessful post-WASDE export cycles.

Counterargument: Soy-specific crop damage can hurt the short, while abundant wheat and absent verified demand switching oppose the long. Black Sea disruption can nevertheless make exportable availability tighter than aggregate stocks suggest. Different marketing years and unequal curve intervals do not imply equal carry.

Catalyst: Two actually reviewed post-WASDE export cycles plus evidence of stronger delivered-wheat demand/basis; do not invent dates or pre-credit outcomes.

Roll: March contracts span January 13. February 26 first notice and March 12 last trade are historical accepted lifecycle references, not newly verified exact calendar rows. Broker safety and current margin remain incomplete. Exact calendar rows and broker safety clocks are not newly verified here. Current NG calendar request failed; no automatic roll or contract substitution.

Market evidence: More projected world wheat inventory and stronger projected U.S. soybean exports still favor the opposite relative balance. Ratio1.0978179 is below1.115 floor. Soy crowding permits a correction but is not delivered-wheat demand. Missing weekly sales outcome is separately unreviewed, not an economic failure.

Expected return: Historical +.154574% uses +2/-1 at741.25/1318.75, $140,062.50 absolute-leg notional and $96 cost. Not rebased to this ratio. A ratio stop alone cannot specify dollar leg risk.

Targets: CNY 115,000/t

Stop: CNY 138,000/t

Invalidation: Renewed quota restriction or failure of the Weda Bay restart to produce material shipments.

Counterargument: Ore/NPI supply is not the same as deliverable class-I metal and the ramp remains uncertain.

Catalyst: Weda Bay ramp/shipments, deliverable stocks and China demand.

Roll: February spans January 13; exact SHFE lifecycle/access controls remain required. Exact calendar rows and broker safety clocks are not newly verified here. Current NG calendar request failed; no automatic roll or contract substitution.

Market evidence: Ore restart is directionally bearish only if actual volumes/grades and refining conversion produce deliverable class-I surplus. Producer withholds reliable ramp estimates; economics unproven independently of missing ni2702 price/FX/access.

Sugar short — No action — current edge not established

The newly captured CFTC report does show gross-long liquidation, so the old no-liquidation description is superseded. But 18.28 leaves 0.28/0.78 cents to the two targets against 1.87 cents to invalidation; exportable-supply improvement and a new failed 19.20–19.40 retest are absent. Targets: 18.00¢ then 17.50¢ only after a qualifying future entry.

Stop: 20.15¢ remains an inactive conditional research reference; no position or active stop.

Invalidation: Material upward deficit revision, persistently weaker Brazil sugar share/output, or export restrictions that prevent supply response.

Counterargument: Higher energy value or adverse crop/export-policy changes could divert supply from exportable sugar and defeat the short. A cheaper sugar price does not itself prove improving physical availability.

Catalyst: Next genuinely published UNICA/exportable-supply evidence and prospective price sequence; publication timing remains unknown.

Roll: Historical accepted February 26, 2027 last trade / March 1 first notice remain after January 13. SOFR flattener — No action — current edge not established

H27 minus Z26 remains −0.260 index points, implying a 26-basis-point higher later-quarter rate. Restrictive policy provides a plausible reason for that slope. One weak manufacturing month is not a sufficient flattening catalyst, and the spread is not a literal meeting probability. The demoted plan has no established current edge and must not be revived mechanically.

Contracts: Long March 2027 SOFR · SR3H27 / short December 2026 SOFR · SR3Z26

Quote: SR3H27 95.420 at 2026-09-18T20:59:58Z / SR3Z26 95.680 at 2026-09-18T20:59:57Z; H−Z = −0.260 index points; 100 × (Z−H) = +26.00 bp later-quarter implied-rate slope. Historical context only; execution ineligible

Change: SR3H27 +0 IMM index points; SR3Z26 +0 IMM index points. Against the same exact contracts in the accepted September 18 monitor: both leg values are unchanged. The indicative March-minus-December implied-rate slope remains +26.00 bp, equivalent to H27−Z26 = −0.260 index points. One-second last-clock separation does not timestamp bid/ask or establish a current executable package; this is not a settlement return or paper P&L.

Entry: No approved numerical entry band. A future plan needs a policy-path catalyst, prospective entry, target, adverse leg-level loss and costs.

Targets: Former 2-4 bp objective remains cancelled; no approved target.

Stop: Former 16 bp reference remains cancelled/inactive; no holding or active stop.

Invalidation: Persistent inflation/policy evidence against flattening. An overshoot alone cannot activate this watch.

Counterargument: Restrictive policy can sustain the positive slope. Quarterly compounded SOFR and repo/basis dynamics are not one-for-one meeting probabilities.

Catalyst: Future evidence that inflation or activity forces a change in the projected policy path, followed by a fully specified prospective flattener plan; September 16 FOMC is already reviewed.

Roll: Ladder contract_month is reference-quarter label; delivery/settlement occurs later. These are not December/March spot policy rates. Both vendor last-trade dates extend beyond January horizon; prospective package/safety plan remains missing.

Market evidence: H27 minus Z26 remains −0.260 index points, implying a 26-basis-point higher later-quarter rate. Restrictive policy provides a plausible reason for that slope. One weak manufacturing month is not a sufficient flattening catalyst, and the spread is not a literal meeting probability. The demoted plan has no established current edge and must not be revived mechanically.

Expected return: No validated current four-month SOFR return model exists. The +26.00 bp implied-rate slope is 100 × (95.680 − 95.420), equivalent to H27−Z26 = −0.260 index points, not an expected return or a meeting probability. A rebuilt flattener requires a source-backed policy-path edge, prospective entry, scenario-consistent target and adverse prices for both legs, fixing/carry assumptions, costs and a stated notional denominator. Former targets and stop references remain cancelled; no forecast is issued.

Natural gas calendar — Wait — economics unresolved

The January-minus-March premium is 0.931, below the 1.10 gate. National surplus supports compression, but South Central salt weakness, winter deliverability and LNG exposure oppose it. Compensation for short-January convexity has diminished; a leg-level target/adverse scenario and horizon-safe implementation are still missing. Economics remain inconclusive, not disproved by a missing quote.

Contracts: Short January 2027 natural gas · NGF27 / long March 2027 · NGH27

Change: NGF27 -0.033 USD per MMBtu; NGH27 -0.01 USD per MMBtu. Against the same exact contract in the accepted September 18 monitor; dated last-to-last comparison, not vendor settlement change, executable package return or paper P&L. Current 0.931 versus prior 0.954; matching displayed minutes do not establish executable synchronization.

Entry: Jan−Mar premium at or above $1.10 plus supportive regional deliverability/LNG/weather and complete execution conditions. Current indication fails the price gate.

Targets: Old $0.60 reference remains inactive; a validated numerical target/adverse scenario is still missing.

Stop: Old $1.35 reference remains inactive and not silently revalidated.

Invalidation: Persistent January scarcity from severe winter weather, regional deliverability, freeze-offs or LNG demand defeats the fade.

Counterargument: LNG demand, freeze-offs and regional deliverability could overwhelm aggregate storage comfort. National surplus is the strongest case for compression, but it does not establish a mild January or fair value for the seasonal spread.

Catalyst: September 17 storage reviewed; monitor actual regional deliverability, LNG/weather and September 24 EIA storage. No unscheduled diplomacy outcome is assumed.

Roll: Keep the historical mid-December review/exit requirement. December 29 NGF27 and February 24 NGH27 last-trade dates are carried historical references; current generic NYMEX rules were recaptured, but exact dated calendar and broker safety clocks were not recaptured. No horizon-spanning roll is approved. Exact calendar rows and broker safety clocks are not newly verified here. Current NG calendar request failed; no automatic roll or contract substitution.

Market evidence: Jan−Mar .931 is below1.10 gate and reduces short-January compensation. National storage surplus supports compression, but South Central salt deficit and winter/LNG deliverability preserve adverse January convexity. No validated target/adverse leg-level package.

Expected return: No validated four-month model. Old .60 target/1.35 stop remain inactive. January expiry precedes horizon, making unrolled Jan13 terminal evaluation unavailable.

Change: FOATZ26 +0.14 price points; FGBLZ26 +0.09 price points. Against the same exact contract in the accepted September 18 monitor; dated last-to-last comparison, not vendor settlement change, executable package return or paper P&L.

Entry: No actionable entry until sourced CTDs, conversion factors, repo/basis, futures DV01 and integer hedge counts define the package.

Targets: None: a futures-adjusted package and target must be specified first.

Stop: None: no defined package or active stop.

Invalidation: Failure of a properly specified France/Germany tightening thesis; exact test awaits hedge verification.

Counterargument: CTD switches, delivery baskets, special repo and country-specific basis can overwhelm a sovereign spread view. EUR 100,000 face values do not mean equal duration.

Catalyst: Final September 18 noncompetitive additions remain unreviewed; September 21 settlement is scheduled. Durable French fiscal credibility and relative supply pricing are still required.

Roll: December last trading is before January horizon. Exchange rule gives 12:30 CET termination and delivery mechanics, but no approved early exit/roll, CTD/DV01/repo or integer hedge. March cannot be substituted automatically.

Market evidence: Auction absorption does not show that French fiscal risk is overpriced. Separate frozen prices cannot demonstrate yield-spread compression; CTD, conversion factors, repo/basis and DV01 are required for a meaningful package. The valuation proposition is unproven separately from these construction gaps. Retain context-only review, not an equal-notional spread.

Expected return: No validated current four-month OAT/Bund package return model exists. FOATZ26 111.57 and FGBLZ26 120.49 are separate FROZEN prices, not a yield spread or an equal-DV01 hedge. A defensible USD expected return requires verified cheapest-to-deliver bonds, conversion factors, repo/basis, futures DV01 and integer hedge quantities, EUR/USD translation, costs and a lifecycle-safe exit or independently qualified roll before the January 13 horizon. None is inferred from auction coverage or separate price changes; expected return and target-before-stop probability remain unavailable.

Data limitations: Economic judgment is separate from partial data and blocked execution. This is a watch thesis, not a position.

Catalyst calendar

• 2026-09-18 UTC clock shown: September 18 CFTC publication. Lagged September 15 category positioning; not post-policy/weekend flows. Sugar gross-long liquidation is observed. WTI net reduction is not gross-long liquidation. Source

• 2026-09-18 UTC clock shown: U.S. industrial production. Manufacturing weakness is a meaningful countercase to inflation/solid-growth persistence. One preliminary month and mixed China strength do not establish a broad growth break, so retain dated scenario weights with this tension explicit. Source

• 2026-09-18 UTC clock shown: BOJ policy outcome recapture. Supports existing yen normalization channel; U.S. restriction, energy costs and pre-event positioning keep countercases alive. Already reflected in accepted review; no duplicate new shock. Source

• 2026-09-18 Date only; exact intraday clock not asserted: AFT final noncompetitive additions. Page remains prospective; no final additional amount inferred. Source

• 2026-09-21 Date only; exact intraday clock not asserted: AFT auction settlement. Date-only prospective funding event; no completed settlement claim. Source

• 2026-09-21 Date only; exact intraday clock not asserted: BOJ local-bank holidays. Local holiday follow-through risk; no CME closure conclusion. Source

• 2026-09-22 10:20 a.m. as listed; timezone not independently recaptured: Jefferson: Treasury market functioning. Within next 72-hour calendar; recheck listed schedule and stale update footer before relying on precise event gate. Source

• 2026-09-19 Date only; exact intraday clock not asserted: Reported Saudi cancellations and September19 escalation. Material renewed-shock tail evidence, but attributed search reporting and unresolved net-flow duration do not calibrate a probability revision. Source

• 2026-09-17 Date only; exact intraday clock not asserted: Previously released balances recaptured. Petroleum demand/inventory adjustment, gas regional asymmetry, wheat/soy balances and contingent coffee/nickel conversion preserve opposing mechanisms. September 17 anchors the gas release only; component vintages range from September 10 to September 17, not a single new batch release. Source

• 2026-09-17 UTC clock shown: September17 export sales unresolved. Overdue outcome, not future release. Zero newly reviewed qualifying sales cycles; retrieval failure is not failed sales. Source

• 2026-09-24 Date only; exact intraday clock not asserted: Next EIA gas. Next date in header, outside72hours. Source
