No action as energy-duration risk rises

Oil disruption-duration evidence strengthened, but no exact-contract setup passed its price, physical, execution and lifecycle gates. The simulated portfolio remains fully in cash.

Dated research, not live quotes. Partial delayed intraday and carried dated coverage; asynchronous wheat, stale SOFR, indicative gas, unavailable nickel and undefined OAT/Bund implementation. No proxy is actionable. Display correction for the September 14 edition: nine price displays and their date/status/comparison labels now match the recorded September 14 observations; copper partial-session vendor volume is 3,630 contracts. Prior reference values and source details are retained in this dated research edition. The original cutoff, research decisions, forecast dates and cash-only simulated results are unchanged. Catalyst-label correction for this edition: the copied description placing the September 16 FOMC decision outside 72 hours was removed. The original research cutoff and recorded findings are unchanged. Research views and scenario estimates are separate from simulated positions and performance.

ATG global futures thesis monitor — September 14, 2026 morning

Display correction — September 14, 2026: The September 14 morning dashboard retained older price strings, date/status labels and comparison notes for nine research ideas even though their recorded observations had been updated. Those displays now use the observations recorded for this edition, listed below; the earlier displayed values are retained here as dated reference context. Copper’s latest recorded vendor volume is 3,630 contracts, rather than the earlier 60-contract observation. These are delayed vendor observations, not live or executable quotes. Yen remains a diagnostic normalization; wheat/soy and gas remain indicative leg arithmetic. The research cutoff remains September 14 at 09:45:42 Toronto, forecasts retain their original dates, and no investment decision or paper-account result has changed. The simulated portfolio remains $1,000,000 in cash with no positions and zero P&L.

All current observations in this table were recorded as retrieved at 13:45:42 UTC on September 14. Source links identify the vendor pages used; those pages can change, so the retained observation timestamps and values define this dated correction. Nickel, SOFR and OAT/Bund retain their explicitly dated carried observations.

Decision and cutoff

Research cutoff: 09:45:42 Toronto/EDT (13:45:42Z). Overall: no action; retain the simulated portfolio in cash. This is a focused morning update, not a fresh global scan.

Coverage is partial. Exact-contract observations are delayed vendor intraday prices or carried dated settlements; no bid/ask depth or new official September 14 settlement was available. Wheat legs are 49 minutes apart, gas is indicative leg arithmetic, SOFR is carried asynchronous data, and current nickel and OAT/Bund package evidence is unavailable. No substitute contract, spot, CFD or continuous series is used as an actionable quote.

The four-month horizon remains September 13, 2026 through January 13, 2027. September 13 scenario probabilities and quantitative return models remain explicitly dated; qualitative expected-return directions below are monitoring judgments, not silently re-estimated probabilities.

Material developments

The energy-supply/inflation regime was reinforced, not replaced. AP reports a possible three-to-five-week Saudi East–West pipeline repair period based on two unnamed regional officials, with partial operation possible; Saudi authorities had not confirmed the estimate. Asian refiners still lacked allocation and shipment guidance, including a delayed loading without a replacement date. Tracked weekend Hormuz transits stayed in single digits per day versus a recent 14-vessel average, with AIS-off traffic excluded. These facts increase disruption-duration uncertainty but do not establish lost Saudi export volumes, a precise restart clock or a tradable front-month-to-February mapping. AP Reuters shipments Reuters traffic

The weekend territorial reports, vessel fire and Oman postponement were previously reported and are not counted again. A claim that covert escorted shipments increased is not independently verified throughput. Fed tightening is heavily anticipated, so the dollar/rate channel is increasingly priced rather than a new edge. Reuters Fed expectations

Monday LME evidence—an 8,425-tonne inventory increase and about a $45/t cash-to-three-month discount—supports easing prompt copper conditions. It is physical context only, not an HGH27 quote. The 2.06% decline in HGH27 has already consumed some remaining short-side opportunity. Copper context

Risk, carry, liquidity and lifecycle

No new synchronized curve observation changed carry or roll assumptions. Partial-session volumes do not establish executable depth; open interest displayed by vendors was not sufficiently date-qualified. The cash book has no correlation exposure, but crude/euro share energy-shock risk, while copper/nickel share growth-and-dollar risk. Gold and yen cannot be assumed to offset those risks when rate repricing dominates.

No stop, target, fundamental invalidation, first-notice, expiry or roll trigger was reached. December yen and euro cannot span the horizon unchanged and need an early-December exit or separately approved March roll; yen's rule-implied last trade remains December 14. January gas terminates before January 13 and requires a defined exit/roll before any eligibility. OAT/Bund December contracts mature before the horizon. March wheat/soy, March copper, March coffee and February gold span the horizon, subject to still-unverified operational notice controls. February WTI must exit by the January 13 horizon before its January 20 last trade.

Portfolio and actions

The paper portfolio remains NAV $1,000,000; net return 0%; realized P&L $0; open P&L $0; modeled costs $0. There are no positions, fills, pending orders, margin reserves, deployed risk or rolls. No trade is warranted by the available evidence.

Urgency:

1. Observe whether GCG27 actually defends 4,300–4,380; do not infer defense from an intraday touch.

2. Verify Saudi throughput, repaired capacity and completed cargoes while preserving exact CLG27 price evidence.

3. Obtain synchronized wheat/soy prices and post-WASDE physical/basis confirmation.

4. Keep all other price, physical, execution, margin and lifecycle gates closed; do not invent missing spread terms.

No scheduled outcome is assumed. Decisions can change through verified oil restoration/delivery evidence, confirmed gold defense, actual coffee certified stocks, crop/basis results with synchronized pair prices, fresh exact ni2702 evidence, or complete executable spread terms.

This is futures research and simulated-paper monitoring only. Futures and multi-leg spreads are leveraged and carry gap, delivery, basis, liquidity and leg-execution risk.
