Coffee replenishment and deferred WTI earn research priority, but no candidate clears execution gates.

Keep the $1,000,000 paper book in cash. Promote KCH27 short and CLG27 long as conditional watches; reduce or retire stale prior concepts.

Dated research, not live quotes. Delayed Sunday exact-contract observations coexist with dated official/vendor settlements. Asynchronous spreads are indicative; no proxy, zero change, or invented current price is used. Research views and scenario estimates are separate from simulated positions and performance.

Global futures weekly opportunity review — September 13, 2026

1. Date, cutoff and data status

Research cutoff is 7:15 p.m. Toronto / 23:15 UTC on September 13, 2026. The four-calendar-month horizon runs through January 13, 2027. CME prices are ten-minute-delayed Sunday intraday trades observed mainly between 6:53 and 6:56 p.m. Toronto; energy prices are delayed vendor observations from 6:25–6:53 p.m. Sugar, coffee, grains, CFE volatility and Eurex bond values retain their explicit September 11 settlement vintages. A carried settlement is not a Sunday price, and calculated multi-leg values are not executable spread quotes.

The worldwide opportunity review is complete across the stated regions and market classes, but execution coverage is partial. No candidate has a verified current initial margin and full executable depth. That blocks entries and paper risk, while still permitting an assessed/no-edge research conclusion.

2. Current global market snapshot

The Sunday reopening showed renewed risk aversion. Delayed ESZ26 was 7,686.50, NQZ26 29,367.50 and NKDZ26 63,410. February WTI CLG27 was $86.05/bbl after a September 11 vendor settlement of $84.62. December yen 6JZ26 was 0.006552 USD per JPY, down 0.107% from the latest accepted 0.006559 observation. March copper HGH27 was $6.6270/lb and February gold GCG27 $4,416.90/oz. CME equity feeds, CME yen feed, WTI contract, CME metals guide

The latest dated CFE settlements were VXV26 18.3595 and VXZ26 19.2846, an October-minus-December value of −0.9251. The latest official grain settlements were ZWH27 741.25¢ and ZSH27 1,318.75¢, a 2W/S ratio of 1.124171. Cboe settlements, USDA grain report

3. Executive regime view

Persistent physical-energy disruption remains the dominant regime risk, but higher prices are increasingly demand-destructive. Reuters reported that the planned Oman meeting between Gulf states and Iran was postponed without a replacement date; it is removed from the catalyst calendar. Saudi pipeline throughput estimates are not verified net export losses, and the reported five-to-seven-day Yanbu stock buffer is an estimate rather than a guaranteed outage cliff. Reuters on Oman, Reuters on Saudi pipeline

Inflation and policy uncertainty remain restrictive for duration and high-multiple equities. August U.S. CPI rose 0.4% month over month and 3.4% year over year; the ECB announced a 25 bp rate increase effective September 16. Japan’s expected September hike is highly adopted, reducing the yen’s remaining squeeze advantage. BLS CPI, ECB decision

4. What changed and prior-thesis ledger

The main board changes reflect the dated evidence and remaining trade limitations. Long yen remains a research hold but loses prominence. Sugar is suspended because supply and liquidation gates remain absent. Wheat/soy remains a low-conviction, time-bounded watch after September WASDE raised world wheat supply and improved soybean export assumptions. SOFR and January/March gas are demoted from entry consideration. OAT/Bund becomes context only because no CTD, conversion-factor, repo or DV01 hedge is defined. The October/December VIX watch is retired because it missed its entry, still lacks a complete target, and cannot span the horizon.

Two genuinely new conditional watches enter: short March arabica coffee KCH27, contingent on certified-stock growth and a failed retest; and long February WTI CLG27, contingent on an attractive pullback and persistent verified physical disruption. Retired crude-normalization, ULSD/RBOB, platinum/gold, cocoa, YM/NQ and CAD/EUR theses remain retired.

5. Global opportunity map

North America was screened across equity indexes, rates, FX, energy, metals, agriculture, volatility and regulated digital futures; deferred WTI is the strongest new North American watch. Europe and the UK were assessed across equity, sovereign-rate, SONIA, EUR and energy markets; incomplete exact quotes or hedge construction prevented promotion. Japan/APAC was assessed through yen, Nikkei and policy-sensitive rates; yen remains the only retained thesis. Greater China/North Asia was assessed through SHFE metals, HKEX index futures, DCE themes and LNG; access, FX or deferred liquidity remains incomplete. India/South Asia was assessed through regional risk and sugar physicals. Australia/New Zealand were assessed through currencies, rates and equity themes. Latin America/EM was assessed through Brazilian coffee/sugar, MXN and regional policy; coffee is the only promotion.

Across market classes A–M, the screen covered U.S./Canadian equities; European/UK equities; Japan/APAC equities; EM equities; sovereign rates and STIRs; FX; crude; products; gas/LNG/power/emissions/freight; metals; agriculture/livestock; volatility; and regulated digital/liquidity. Absence of an exact current quote in a rejected market is reported as a data limit, not a zero price or proof of no opportunity.

6. What is already priced

Front oil scarcity, distillate tightness, BOJ tightening, gold defensiveness and copper scarcity all command high priced-in scores. The indicative CLV26−CLZ26 value near $9.01/bbl is far beyond the former $6.25 normalization invalidation. January HOF27−RBF27 near $1.6456/gal is already beyond the retired thesis’s old target. Yen’s score rises to 4.5/5 after the CFTC’s September 8 aggregate non-commercial position swung to +10,796 contracts. CFTC financial futures

Coffee normalization is partly priced after KCH27 fell 3.55% from September 4 to the September 11 vendor settlement of 277.20¢/lb. Copper managed-money length and gold ETF inflows also indicate adoption, raising the hurdle for fresh directional risk. CFTC agriculture, World Gold Council

7. What is not fully priced

Coffee’s possible exchange-stock replenishment is not confirmed: intended deliveries and bags awaiting grading are not certified inventory. Cecafé reported August all-coffee exports of 4.155 million bags, up 31% year over year, including 2.866 million arabica bags, but port constraints persist. Cecafé, Reuters-syndicated coffee report

Deferred WTI may underprice a disruption that persists past the immediate front-month squeeze, but it may instead correctly anticipate demand destruction and normalization. Copper may underprice tariff-premium unwinding and Weda Bay makes nickel normalization more credible, yet scarce imported copper and low visible Asian availability oppose a simple short. Reuters copper tariffs, Eramet Weda Bay

8. Full market analysis

Equities (A–D): Sunday NQZ26 underperformed ESZ26, but Nvidia’s August results still provide a strong fundamental counterargument to structural anti-AI trades. March U.S. and Nikkei futures lacked usable current prints, so ES/Nikkei and renewed YM/NQ rotation were rejected. European, UK, HKEX, India, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Canada, Brazil and South Africa were screened; exact deferred quotes, depth, beta or FX packages were insufficient for promotion.

Rates and FX (E–F): SR3Z26−SR3H27 implied +22.5 bp, but the 79.511-second leg skew makes the implied spread indicative rather than executable. Yen remains above its old entry band and current target/stop geometry is only 0.53:1. Short EUR and JPY/MXN are hypotheses only; ECB tightening, crowding, deferred liquidity, volume and carry block promotion. SONIA and European sovereign spreads lack complete executable packages.

Energy (G–I): CLG27 at $86.05 is the leading conditional energy watch, with preferred entry $82–84, target $104 and stop $76. The current-mark scenario estimate is +5.14% after modeled cost, versus +9.0% at $83; neither is a margin return. Gas is demoted: NGF27−NGH27 was an asynchronous $1.012/MMBtu, the January leg expires December 29, and regional deliverability plus LNG risks remain unresolved. TTF, JKM, power and freight lacked exact executable inputs.

Metals (J): Short HGH27 after a failed $6.70–6.80 retest is the strongest challenger, target $5.90 and stop $7.10, but low Asian stocks/premia and only 2.5/5 conviction prevent promotion. Long GCG27 is a defensive challenger at a defended $4,300–4,380, target $4,800 and stop $4,100. Nickel is implementation-incomplete; silver’s modeled expectation is negative. Platinum/gold remains retired after WPIC changed its 2026 balance to a 265 koz surplus. WPIC

Agriculture/livestock (K): Short KCH27 is promoted to watch only. Preferred entry is a failed 280–288¢ retest after certified stocks actually rise; targets 255/240, stop 305. Wheat/soy’s current settlement ratio is in-band, but zero qualifying post-WASDE export cycles and no stronger basis block entry. Sugar’s revised scenario estimate is negative and managed-money length increased; suspend. Cotton, corn, crush, livestock, dairy, orange juice, robusta, white sugar, palm oil and non-U.S. grain venues were assessed without a superior execution-ready edge. USDA WASDE

Volatility and regulated digital/liquidity (L–M): Retire VXV26−VXZ26. January VIX has attractive tail sensitivity but no robust positive edge after small probability changes, and the paper book has no equity position requiring a hedge. Regulated digital futures were screened for liquidity-regime sensitivity, but no exact-contract, catalyst-specific opportunity surpassed cash.

9. Four-month scenario tree

The dated subjective weights are retained: persistent friction 40%, transport normalization 20%, renewed supply shock 25%, growth break 10%, AI/liquidity disappointment 5%. They are analytical scenario weights, not market-implied or measured probabilities.

Persistent friction favors disciplined crude entries and selective coffee normalization. Transport normalization hurts long crude and helps import-sensitive assets. Renewed supply shock benefits crude and potentially gold but harms global growth and importers. Growth break is best for the conditional copper short and worst for crude. AI/liquidity disappointment pressures equities and industrial commodities while potentially causing an initial liquidation in defensive assets. ER figures are supplied model estimates; their full terminal payoffs and cost assumptions are not reproduced in this public summary. Target-before-stop probability is separately unavailable unless explicitly stated.

10. Global Top 20 futures opportunity board

The board intentionally contains eight candidates rather than padding to twenty:

1. Short KCH27 — Wait/new watch. Settlement 277.20¢; preferred failed retest 280–288; targets 255/240; stop 305; priced 3.5/5; modeled net ER +3.91% at the dated mark and +6.54% at 285.

2. Long CLG27 — Wait/new watch. Delayed 86.05; preferred 82–84; target 104; stop 76; priced 3.5/5; modeled net ER +5.14% at mark.

3. Short HGH27 — Wait/challenger. Delayed 6.6270; require failed 6.70–6.80; target 5.90; stop 7.10; priced 3.5/5; modeled net ER +4.16%.

4. Long GCG27 — Wait/challenger. Delayed 4,416.9; require defended 4,300–4,380; target 4,800; stop 4,100; priced 4/5; modeled net ER +2.894%.

5. Long 6JZ26 — Hold thesis/no add. Delayed 0.006552 USD per JPY; old entry 0.00635–0.00639; targets 0.00670–0.00680; stop 0.00618; priced 4.5/5; modeled net ER +0.46% after roll/cost assumptions.

6. Short 6EZ26, conditional March roll — Wait/hypothesis. Delayed 1.1632; require failed rally 1.1700–1.1750; target 1.1200; invalidation 1.1950; priced 3.5/5; illustrative net ER +2.20%.

7. Long 2 ZWH27, short 1 ZSH27 — Wait/demoted. Official settlements 741.25/1,318.75; ratio 1.124171; targets 1.18–1.20; stop 1.08; priced 3/5; net ER +0.15%.

8. Short ni2702 — Wait/implementation incomplete. September 11 SHFE official settlement CNY127,330/t; failed-retest band 129,000–131,000; target 115,000; stop 138,000; priced 3/5; gross CNY ER +3.086%, net USD estimate unavailable.

Clarification added September 14, 2026 — September 13 Instagram carousel: The +5.14% estimate at $86.05/bbl and +9.0% estimate at a hypothetical $83/bbl entry refer to February 2027 WTI futures (CLG27). Each is modeled net scenario P&L divided by the corresponding futures notional, after the stated modeled costs. They are conditional four-month scenario estimates through January 13, 2027, not returns on posted margin or the simulated portfolio. No trade was executed; the simulated portfolio remained $1,000,000 in cash. This clarification defines the published percentages and does not change the dated scenarios or investment conclusion.

11. Best Trades and return leaderboards

There are no executable Best Trades. The Best conditional research watches are short KCH27 and long CLG27.

Raw target-potential ranking at prospective entries is CLG27 +25.30%, KCH27 +15.79% to its second target, and HGH27 +12.59%. Probability-weighted current-mark ranking among supplied net models is CLG27 +5.14%, HGH27 +4.16%, then KCH27 +3.91%; different observation and entry bases limit strict comparability. Gross price-distance asymmetry at prospective entries ranks CLG27 3.00:1, HGH27 2.43:1, short EUR 2.33:1 and KCH27 2.25:1; crude is approximately 2.98:1 after its stated modeled costs. These ratios are not win probabilities. Subjective target-before-stop probability is available only for crude and copper, both about 45% with broad uncertainty; other candidates remain unavailable.

12. Trades to cut, reduce, avoid or reverse

Suspend SBH27, demote SOFR and January/March gas, retire October/December VIX, and reduce OAT/Bund to context only. Retired CLV/CLZ normalization remains invalidated; HOF/RBF remains retired after its target passed without entry; PL/GC remains retired after its physical gate failed; cocoa, YM/NQ and CAD/EUR remain retired. Do not reverse any of them automatically.

Avoid substituting CFDs, spots, continuous series, cash indexes or a different month for the named futures. Avoid one-for-one sovereign hedges without CTD/DV01 work, and avoid thin deferred cross-venue packages without FX, access and volume validation.

13. Catalyst calendar

• Sep. 13, 9:00 p.m. Toronto: BOJ Accounts; an accounting release, not a rate decision. BOJ calendar

• Sep. 13, 10:30 p.m.: RBA Sarah Hunter appearance. RBA

• Sep. 17–18: BOJ meeting; exact decision time not verified. BOJ

• Through Sep. 27: coffee certifications/gradings, Saudi repairs and actual exports, copper physical premia, post-WASDE export cycles, weekly positioning and weather evidence.

The Oman meeting is postponed and has no new date. BOJ Accounts remains an upcoming accounting release rather than a policy decision; its outcome was not known at the cutoff.

14. What would change the view

Coffee improves only if certified stocks actually rise and price rejects 280–288; grading failures, withdrawals or Brazil weather tighten the market and weaken the short. Crude improves on an 82–84 pullback with persistent verified export constraints; credible repair, transit normalization or demand destruction weakens it. Yen needs less crowded positioning or better post-BOJ reward/risk. Copper requires a failed retest plus evidence that Asian scarcity no longer dominates. Gold needs a defended entry and demonstrable incremental value rather than a generic hedge. Wheat/soy requires two qualifying post-WASDE export cycles and better delivered basis. EUR and nickel require complete implementation work.

15. Final decision sheet

1. No paper trade; keep $1,000,000 cash. Positions, orders, margin use, P&L and paper-book transaction costs remain zero.

2. Promote short KCH27 and long CLG27 to conditional watches only. Neither watch is an order or a simulated position.

3. Hold the 6JZ26 research thesis without adding; reduce prominence. It is not a portfolio holding.

4. Retain copper, gold, short EUR and nickel only as challengers/hypotheses. Their execution, path-probability or physical gates remain incomplete.

5. Keep wheat/soy as a time-bounded low-conviction watch; suspend sugar.

6. Demote SOFR and gas, retire VIX, and reduce OAT/Bund to context.

7. No stop, first-notice, expiry or roll trigger affected a paper holding because the book is empty. Lifecycle dates still require tracking: CLG27 must exit by January 13 before its January 20 last trade; KCH27 first notice is February 18 and last trade March 18; December yen needs a roll or exit; January gas expires December 29; and retired horizon-incompatible contracts must not be revived mechanically.

Futures and multi-leg spreads are leveraged and can gap through stops. This review is research and simulated-portfolio management only; it does not place real orders or use a real account.
